It's time to visit Cuba. The country is in the process of opening up to tourism which makes it accessible but not yet crowded with tourists. It is especially a country that remains authentic! The inhabitants have not changed their lives because of tourism. You will discover pure moments of Cuban life. The architecture and the buildings are for some of them being restored but most of the constructions are in their juice.
  1. Visit Havana

Your trip to Cuba necessarily begins in Havana with its international airport. This city is a pure wonder. Its old American cars, the Cuban music mixes jazz and salsa, its architecture and finally its culture that seduces and bewitches you. The old Havana or habana vieja transports you back to the 50s and 60s. The Habana centro is the heart of the city with its Latin rhythm, its capitol, the paseo marti del prado, the malecon, the museum of the revolution. And yes there are tons of things to see in Havana. And when the evening comes, you have to taste the famous dry rums or cocktails like the mojito. There are also a lot of activities like taking a ride in an old American car, going to see a salsa show in a cabaret at the Tropicana or going to the beach.
  1. Visiting Western Cuba - Vinalès

Vinalès is the place to spend some time. You can discover the tobacco fields for Cuban cigars. There are also rum distilleries and coffee plantations to visit. There are also many caves in the surrounding area. Of course you can do everything on horseback. We loved going out in the evening in Vinalès with its night market and salsa evenings. There is also the botanical garden which is really interesting. You can also go on an excursion to Cayo Jutia. One of the most beautiful beaches we visited in Cuba. We will also propose you a day in the mogotes, the caves of Cuba which are among the largest in the world.
  1. Visit Trinidad and Topes de Collantes Park

On the way to Trinidad, we stopped at El Nicho in the Topes de collantes park. This park is known for its beautiful waterfalls and small lakes where you can swim. Trinidad has a crazy charm. A small town, even a big colorful tourist village that has kept an incredible authenticity. Take the time to eat in a restaurant with often music bands, taste the canchanchara a rum and honey cocktail in a small clay pot. Finally, take a stroll through the cobbled streets at sunset around Plaza Major and Carillo. We also recommend day trips to the parks with beautiful waterfalls.
  1. Visit the

    Coco and Guillermo cayo's
We stayed overnight in Moron because hotels on the Cayo are very expensive. From Moron we left for the day with a taxi. We enjoyed 2 days on these cayos north of Cuba. If you want to visit Cuba, it's a wonderful place. Cayo coco and its playa los Flamengos is a huge sandy beach. It can be a bit crowded but there is room and a beach restaurant. Cayo Guillermo and its playa pilar is a little narrower beach with deckchairs. The trick to save money is really to be accommodated in Moron and then this city has its charm. Like all cities, the internet connection is as difficult but the Cuban life is interesting to observe.
  1. Budget, itinerary, balance sheet

The budget for a trip to Cuba is very heavily burdened by air tickets. Once there, accommodation, taxi fares and food are the main expenses. The casas particulares will accommodate you with a lot of comfort. They will even reserve your taxis for you. You can even plan excursions in the Casas, they take care of everything. In 3 weeks, we visited a good half of the western half of the country, we could see almost everything we wanted to see in Cuba. We were seduced by the Cuban welcome, the culture, the cuisine, the Cuban beaches. It's really time to visit Cuba and in backpack it's possible. In short to visit cuba cheap it's possible but it's now.
