Argentina Travel Magazine Introduction by Co-Editor Brian Wood

My name is Brian Wood, the co-editor of this Argentina travel publication, along with my Father Harvey Wood, the editor. Together we will take you on an unforgettable journey to Argentina, the country that we love.

I just visited Argentina during Christmas break for two weeks during 2006-2007 where I also brought in the new year. In this premiere edition we would like to take you to three of our favorite places to visit in Argentina. Argentina is the eighth largest country in the world, so it’s logical that you will never be able to see all the sights that present themselves, but if you must ask what would be the three best places to absolutely see, I would have to say it’s got to be the following three. To get the whole story, click through to view our attempt at giving a small flavor of these places to visit.

The first place that we suggest visiting in Argentina is Iguazu falls (see the Iguazu Falls article) in the Misiones province where it creates the border between Brazil and Argentina. The falls are considered one of the natural wonders of the world and are provided plenty of trails and board walks on both the Brazil and Argentina sides of the falls for maximum accessibility to get some great pictures of the falls which are truly breath taking.

There is a rich variety of wildlife which lives around the falls and it’s corresponding national park which includes coatis, tegus, black vultures and other creatures. There are also opportunities for the rugged lifestyle such as plenty of water sports and rock climbing around the falls. Iguazu falls is most certainly a site to behold and one place you don’t want to miss when you come to Argentina.

The second place we suggest you visit in Argentina would have to be Nahuel Huapi lake in the Neuquen province of Argentina, where it’s bordered by Chile to the west. It’s nearest major city, San Carlos de Bariloche (often just called Bariloche) is the perfect place to stop, and see this beautiful lake in the southern portion of the Andes mountain range. This lake also has it’s own version of the Loch Ness monster, dubbed Nahuelito, which is said to dwell in the lake plus several neighboring bodies of water and also come onto land every once in a while, so keep a look out for anything out of the ordinary. In the winter time, the mountains which surround the lake play host to the Cerro Catedral ski resort where people can ski down the steep slopes or just enjoy the astounding scenery. Summer or winter, whichever time of the year you come to Argentina, you would not want to skip over this travel destination.

The third place we would like to introduce you to in Argentina is Argentina’s very own version of the Napa valley in California, Mendoza, centered within the province it’s named after and is directly north of Neuquen province. Mendoza is famed the world over by it’s lush vineyards and it’s terrific Argentina wines which are practically like no others in the world. But if you’re not the wine drinking mood, Mendoza is settled at the foot of the Andes mountains where, if you hadn’t gotten enough in Bariloche or just haven’t seen them yet, it provides an excellent destination for mountain gazers and world travelers alike. For a taste of exotic wine and spectacular views of snow capped mountains, Mendoza is a city you won't want to miss.

To get the whole story, you should visit these places and see the sights for yourself. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our beloved Argentina. Just contact us and we will see if we can help.

Enjoy your journey, I know we did.
